Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she is not sorry ‘one bit’ for calling Joe Biden a ‘liar’ during his State of the Union address, adding the president got ‘exactly what he deserved.’
Greene showed no remorse for her actions, despite being slammed on social media for disrupting the president’s annual address.
‘People are p***ed off,’ she told CNN on Wednesday. ‘He got exactly what he deserved. And I’m not sorry one bit.’
She again accused Biden of lying about the economy and the border. Republicans were infuriated on Tuesday night when Biden, in his remarks, accusing the GOP of wanting to ‘sunset’ Medicare and Social Security.
The president was referring to a plan by Republican Sen. Rick Scott to automatically sunset laws if they’re not renewed, which Democrats say would include Medicare and Social Security.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy, earlier Tuesday, had implored Republicans to behave during the president’s remarks.
During the speech, when Republicans started to shout ‘secure the border’ at Biden, McCarthy shushed them from his spot on the dias of the House.
But Greene said she didn’t think the speaker was mad about the disruptions.
‘I don’t think Speaker McCarthy is upset with any of us for for expressing our views and being unwilling to allow the President to lie. What am I gonna do stand up and give golf claps? No thank you. I don’t clap for liars,’ she said.

She’s not the only Republican doubling down on their attacks on the president.
Scott, the Republican senator from Florida, is running a new ad in his state that calls on Biden to step down from office.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy accused Biden of making outrageous claims about Republicans’ plans for these social spending programs as a ‘political ploy’ in order to ‘goad’ a reaction out of GOP lawmakers.
After Biden spent much of his State of the Union on Tuesday night touting that he rebuilt the economy and quelled inflation after the pandemic, he struck a sore spot when he claimed Republicans want to ‘hold the economy hostage.’
It comes as polls show that most Americans feel they are worse off financially and that the economy is in worse shape due to Biden’s policies.
Florida Senator Rick Scott started running an ad Wednesday in his state calling on President Joe Biden to resign. Lawmakers are demanding he step down after claiming he is ‘lying’ about the GOP wanting to get rid of Medicare and Social Security
President Joe Biden earned the biggest reaction of the night when he said: ‘Some of my Republican friends want to take the economy hostage… Instead of making wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security sunset’
The president’s claims quickly sparked the largest response of the night from Republicans who booed, jeered and shouted he was ‘lying.’
Biden mostly used Tuesday night’s State of the Union to tout his economic accomplishments, express his optimism for the future and urge Republicans to work with him.
However, it became an unusually chaotic night as many GOP lawmakers loudly voiced their anger at some of Biden’s claims , particularly over his administration’s handling of the fentanyl crisis and economy, with cries of ‘liar!’, ‘it’s all your fault’ and ‘secure the border’.
Biden attempted to hit back and continued to call for bipartisanship, but the message that is set to underpin his likely reelection announcement was repeatedly attacked.
‘Well, the president was trying to goad the members – and the members are passionate about it,’ McCarthy told Fox and Friends Wednesday morning. ‘But the one thing the president was saying was something he knew wasn’t true. I just spent an hour with him, I’ve said it many times before – Social Security and Medicare are off the table.’
‘He tries to use that for a political ploy,’ the Speaker alleged. ‘But the one thing we need to be is we need to be smart. He’s trying to play politics with the debt ceiling by not negotiating, by lying about our position. I want to be responsible, I want to be sensible, I want to sit down and work through this problem.’
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of the most vocal critics, standing and screaming ‘Liar!’ at the president
Scott also said in his ad that Biden is lying about Republicans wanting to cut these programs while also avoiding his own responsibilities from them.
‘Joe Biden just cut $280 billion from Medicare and we know about his 80,000 new IRS agents,’ Scott said in his 30-second ad while donning a NAVY hat. ‘But what you don’t know is that Joe Biden also cheated on his taxes and got away with it.’
‘Biden improperly used a loophole to dodge half-a-million-dollars in taxes that should have gone to Medicare. Now that Biden has ripped off Medicare for $500,000, he wants to close the loophole and raise your taxes,’ he added.
‘I’m Rick Scott, Biden should resign,’ the Republican senator concluded.
Scott posted the clip to Twitter Tuesday with the caption: ‘Here is my ad running tomorrow to welcome Joe to FL – he is a tax cheat and needs to resign.’
He repeated this same message when speaking with the media following the State of the Union address on Tuesday evening, claiming it’s time for the president to step down.
During Biden’s remarks before a joint session of Congress, he took aim at Republicans for the debt ceiling negotiations and their proposals for the economy. Many felt that his comments were meant to spark some sort of big reaction from Republicans, which he did earn.
‘Some of my Republican friends want to take the economy hostage, I get it, unless I agree to their economic plans,’ the president said during his speech. ‘All you at home should know the plans are – instead of making wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security sunset.’
‘I’m not saying it’s a majority,’ he added as some lawmakers began to boo.
Republicans shouted out, while others, like Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado, frowned and shook their heads in disapproval.
Representative Ronny Jackson, once the White House physician, tweeted: ‘Tonight’s State of the Union was ALL LIES! EVERYTHING has gotten worse under Biden.’
‘If he REALLY cared about the state of our country, he’d resign IMMEDIATELY!!’ the Texas congressman said.
